Hello, I’m Kirstin. I’m a Scottish documentary photographer based in Dumfries & Galloway, working throughout Scotland. My work focuses on collaborating with communities and artist-led organisations to document and communicate their initiatives, ethos and values, fostering a deeper understanding of the creative processes and stories behind each project.

My approach to photography is rooted in storytelling, capturing authentic moments that are vibrant, emotive and deeply resonant. Over the years, I’ve built a strong portfolio in the arts, culture and music sectors, working with organisations, brands and creatives to produce meaningful, impactful visuals that showcase their work across various platforms. I believe that every image should convey a sense of place and purpose, inviting viewers to engage with the story being told.

In recent years, my focus has shifted toward working with creatives who are closely connected to nature and their environments. This has sparked a deep appreciation for the landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. I’ve been developing a body of personal work that explores these Highland landscapes through film photography, using my storytelling skills to bring to life the unique character and beauty of these remarkable and often remote areas. Additionally, also advocating for the importance of preserving these spaces for future generations.

Most recently, I was commissioned by Dior to document the creation of their Cruise 25 garments for a show in Perth, Scotland. The project took me across the Scottish Highlands and Islands, where I photographed makers and craftspeople while exploring the rich history and culture behind their work.
